Battle Babe is an in-development Card Battler/Deck Building game - Currently in Alpha

You play as Battle Babe, a rowdy tactician who likes a good brawl. You have been on the run from the Monster King and now find yourself in the Frog King's Swamp.

To stay alive and kicking, gather Babes as your allies and fight together to survive the Frog King's masses!

Play with up to 40 cards and create synergies optimizing your deck per battle (Card amount goes up to 114 if you count all upgradable versions of each card)

Features:

- Card XP System, Upgrade your cards!

- 1 Enemy Leader
- 4 Enemy Minion Types
- Endless gamemode (About 30 min of content, unless you're playing to discover every card upgrade)


Instructions

-Game is played by mouse (Drag & Drop Gameplay)
-Right click for card info
-The game will get progressively harder. Different enemy types will show up in later stages.

There are 3 modes to start a run with currently:

- Balanced Preset:

The way as intended for a playthrough.

- Random Deck:

Random cards, start with 5 Babes and 10 command cards (Not advised as it can give cards that would normally only be worth/useful in later battles when you have more Bond available in your deck)


- Custom Deck Builder:

You can basically fuck around and find out. Try out different strategies, have 15 Goat Babes for all I care. (If you find any good or funny combos please let me know!)


Tips

- Babes can't move after attacking
- Newly placed Babes can't immediately attack
- Babes can't target enemy minions or the enemy leader from the same lane if there is an enemy minion in front of the target. (Swap lanes to strike remember that you can't move anymore after the attack!)
- You can't place more than 1 Babe per turn (unless you draw a Babe through card draw)
- You can return Babes to your deck by sliding them into your discard pile (only if not just placed from your hand). This resets their health when you draw them again and is useful to trigger On Play effects
- Cards gain upgrade charges when successfully using their effects. Some Babes would need to be returned to your discard pile to upgrade them quicker
- Cards don't upgrade after turn 10 anymore
- Hover over Turquoise highlighted words on cards to get tooltips


Developer's Note:

I've been working on this game for over a year now, finally getting it to a reasonable point to showcase it and have it be tested. The current version [A.0.1.1] is very limited in terms of overall gameplay mechanics and is mainly intended for testing the current Battle Scenario.

Do note that the current survival gamemode fighting endless battles will not be the actual game.

I would love to hear your opinions and feedback on what can be improved about the current content. If you have any suggestions feel free to leave them as well :))

Don't feel pressured seeing it's an Alpha, but I greatly appreciate donations if you genuinely enjoyed and support the vision. I will be working on the game nonetheless :))


F.A.Q.

Q: What are your inspirations for Battle Babe?
A: I've been inspired by card battlers like Wildfrost, Slay the Spire and Griftlands. For now I only showcase the battles, but I have plans to add more content and roguelite elements to the game, as well as meta progression elements.

Q: Why is every character besides Battle Babe herself 2D instead of 3D?
A: My main skills as an artist lie in 3D art, however, creating +20 characters takes a lot of time and effort. (Not even counting future additional content). The 2D art is conceptual for how I envision the characters.

Q: Why are there no save/load features?
A: I don't think there's enough content for now. Sorry for the inconvenience if you actually did want to keep beating up the Frog King for more than 8 battles.

Q: What's ahead?
A: I have plans to add more content and roguelite elements to the game, as well as meta progression elements. The things I have planned for the future are:
- Overworld map with random events
- More Enemy Leaders to fight
- Money system
- Conversation/Affinity system with the babes to level them up and bond with them (Romance, Friendship and perhaps Rivalry??)
- Trinkets and modifiers for Battle Babe

Q: What's the overall vision?
A: I intend to have the game be based around forming bonds and going on a journey with the allies you find along the way. I want the Babes to have personalities rather than to just feel like minions to throw at your enemies. I want to find a good balance between Deck Building to allow strategy but as a world builder and story telling enthusiast, I want to mix it up with story elements somehow.

Q: Will there be male/masculine babes?
A: Yes, I will create the Manly Man DLC pack for an additional 20 euros.
Yes, I intend to eventually add male/manly babes. I started the concept with feminine characters in mind but came to realize that men/masculine beings can be absolute babes as well.

I've been following the development of the game since the beginning and the amount of passion and effort that is put into this game is incredible. I've genuinely enjoyed playing the game even though it's still very much in early alpha, and I'm excited to see how it develops!
The art looks great and I'm really intrigued by the future plans :)
